When to Buy Maternity Clothes? You should start planning ahead!

With several months to go before your baby comes, you may be wondering when’s the right time to buy maternity clothes. You may not think so but there’s a proper time to do each of these tasks. In this article, I’ll discuss everything you need to know about buying maternity clothes and when you should buy those clothes.

Buy maternity clothes during the early months of your pregnancy.

Maternity clothes are designed to help you feel more comfortable during pregnancy, and they are a great way to prepare for your baby’s arrival. Maternity clothes come in a wide range of styles and prices, from inexpensive tops and dresses to high-end designer pieces.

Once you know your size, it’s easy to shop for maternity clothing online or head to a store near you that carries maternity wear.

While it’s important to buy clothing that fits well, don’t buy too much too soon. The best time to stock up on maternity clothes is in the first trimester of your pregnancy. Buy what you need now, but don’t go overboard. You may soon find that some items don’t fit anymore as your body changes shape and size throughout the course of your pregnancy.

You’ll want to purchase enough maternity clothes so that you have something to wear every day. This means at least two outfits (a top and bottom), along with several pairs of pants or skirts, shirts and jackets or cardigans.

You can still wear your normal clothes for now.

You may not be able to wear your regular clothes while you’re pregnant, but that doesn’t mean you have to hide in maternity clothes.

“There are some women who may want to go ahead and purchase some maternity clothing, but it’s not necessary,” says Nicole Elliott-Jeter, a registered nurse at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea, Minnesota. “You can definitely continue to wear your regular clothes for now.”

If you’re having trouble finding what you need in your own closet, there are plenty of options out there — including these recommendations from our moms:

“I learned early on that I needed a few key pieces of clothing that would allow me to keep wearing my jeans,” says Erin McGinnis, who has two children and blogs about pregnancy at TheBump.com. “I bought one pair of black pants with an elastic waistband and one pair of jeans with an adjustable waistband.” Both styles worked well for her throughout her pregnancies.

Don’t buy too many maternity clothes.

You don’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe for pregnancy. Most of what you already own will work just fine, starting with your favorite jeans.

Depending on your height and weight, most regular-sized clothes will fit until about the third trimester. But if you’re having twins or other multiples, you may need to buy larger sizes sooner.

Here are some tips to help you save money on maternity clothes:

Buy used maternity clothing at consignment sales and thrift stores. You can also find secondhand maternity wear on eBay and Craigslist. And if you have friends who are pregnant, ask if they have any clothes or accessories that aren’t being used anymore.

Buy only what you need in basic styles that are easy to mix and match with existing garments in your closet — tops, pants and skirts — in neutral colors like black, brown and navy blue. These items should be comfortable enough for everyday wear as well as look good on you when paired with your shoes and accessories (jewelry).

Wear your pre-pregnancy clothes with a belly band.

The best maternity wardrobe is the one you already own. A few pieces of maternity clothing can work wonders, but don’t feel like you need to go crazy buying new clothes until your baby bump starts showing.

A belly band is another option for keeping your pants up and helping them stay in place. A band is designed to fit around your lower abdomen, similar to a corset, supporting and lifting your tummy while smoothing out any bulging areas. It’s often made of compression material that helps you achieve the same look as a pair of Spanx — but with added comfort and support for mommies-to-be.

The belly band should be tight enough so that it doesn’t move around or fall down during the day. However, it shouldn’t be so tight that it’s uncomfortable or difficult to breathe in. If you feel pain or discomfort in your lower back or abdomen after wearing it for a few hours, it’s probably too tight for you at this point in your pregnancy.

Wear loose fitting clothes and comfy pants.

The first day at a new place can be overwhelming. It’s important to wear loose fitting clothes and comfy pants. It’s easier to move around and you won’t have to worry about your clothes getting in the way.

If you’re going to be working with plants, make sure that you wear closed-toe shoes. You’ll want to protect your feet from any sharp objects or rough surfaces that may be present on the property.

Wear sunscreen! It’s easy to forget about protecting yourself from the sun when you’re busy with school work, but it’s important to remember that UV rays can damage your skin even when it’s cloudy outside.

It helps if you have a friend who lives in town who can show you around or pick up groceries for you. If not, try asking someone who works at the store where they live or work so they can give you directions on how to get there.

Pack some snacks! Pack some granola bars and fruit snacks so that if you get hungry during class, you won’t have to spend money on food right away (if there is any).

When to Buy Maternity Clothes? You should start planning ahead!

You might have heard that maternity clothes are the most expensive ones in your life. That’s not necessarily true, but it’s a fact that you need to plan ahead when buying maternity clothes.

You might be surprised to hear that there is no exact answer to this question. It all depends on how far along you are and on how much time you have before delivery.

If you’re planning to get pregnant, then it’s best to start thinking about what you’ll need as soon as possible after conception. There are some things that can’t be bought later for obvious reasons (like pregnancy tests), but there are also plenty of things that can wait until later if necessary (like cribs).

If this is your first child and you’ve never been pregnant before, take advantage of some time before delivery to figure out what works best for your body type, what feels comfortable and what doesn’t work at all. That way, when your due date arrives, everything will be ready for baby!
